Tutorial for fine art birthday card

January 9, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for another style of fine art floral birthday card. My other cards this week have used the bold patterns in pinks and blues. Today I’ve flipped the paper over, to use a more subtle pattern as the background.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the fine art floral birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

I keep referring to Whisper White cardstock in my projects and this is because I have a good stock of this white and will continue to use it until it runs out. This version of white is no longer available. Unfortunately the supplier’s mill closed, however we now have a new Basic White product set to replace it and my supply lists will direct you to this.

Start with an A6 portrait card of Bumble Bee. Mat with Early Espresso card and then a layer of Fine Art Floral DSP. Using So Saffron ink, stamp the large solid flower from the Art Gallery set onto Whisper White card. Stamp the 2-step filler flower over the top using Bumble Bee ink. Die cut the flower out with the matching Floral Gallery dies. Using Old Olive ink stamp the leaves and die cut them out. Die cut a longer label of Whisper White using the same Floral Gallery set and stamp the birthday sentiment onto it with Early Espresso ink. Adhere the leaves behind the sentiment and pop the duo up on the card front with mini dimensionals. Pop the flower bloom over the top with more dimensionals. Finish with a bow of Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon applied with a Mini Glue Dot.

On the Whisper White insert, using Early Espresso ink, stamp another sentiment from the Art Gallery set. In the lower right corner, stamp the smaller (2-step) flower from the same set, using So Saffron ink for the first step and Bumble Bee for the second.

Thanks for stopping by.
