Tutorial for folded flowers card

January 29, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for a folded flowers birthday card.

There is a longer video showing how to create the drape fold, with an extra tip or two besides, over on my Youtube channel. Please hop over there to check out the video and click Subscribe for further weekly tips in the future. Thanks!

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the folded flowers birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

This drape fold technique works best when the pattern on the reverse is fairly simple. Better still if it is in a colour that already occurs in the main pattern on the front.

Start with an A6 portrait card of Basic Black. Using Memento Black ink, stamp a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in the upper right corner of a card front layer of Granny Apple Green. Cut a piece of 4″ x  9-7/8″ Flower & Field DSP. With the long edge across the top, score at 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″, 4-1/2″, 5-1/2″, 7-1/2″ and 8-1/2″. Create a small mark 1″ down the short edge of the paper and then cut diagonally from that mark to the bottom of the farthest scoreline (not the edge of the paper). Pleat the paper and adhere direct to the card front layer. (See video).

Adhere a strip of Basic Black card across the top of the pleated DSP and adhere the layers direct to the card front. Using the Poppy Moments dies, die cut a solid flower from Poppy Parade card, the outline from Cherry Cobbler and stamen from Basic Black. Assemble the flower and pop up on the card front with dimensionals.

On the Basic White insert, using Memento Black ink, stamp another sentiment from the Peaceful Moments set. Add a strip of the same Flower & Fields DSP as the card front, along the base.

Thanks for stopping by.
