My tutorial today is for a dragonfly box to hold the full set of four cards from yesterday. The boxed set of cards creates a great gift.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the decorated box to hold the dragonfly cards. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.
Colour Combo
The colour combo for the decorated box uses just Mossy Meadow and Basic White. The cards and the envelopes also use Bumble Bee, Calypso Coral, Blackberry Bliss and Misty Moonlight.
Box for dragonfly card set tutorial
Cut two 1-1/2″ strips from a sheet of 6″ x 6″ Dandy Garden DSP. Adhere together, overlapping the short ends, to create one long strip. Dry fit around an Acetate Card Box and adhere closed at the back of the box. (Dry fitting means wrapping the strip around the box and creasing it into place at each corner). Tie Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim around the band in a bow. Secure the Trim in place with a Mini Glue Dot under the centre front.
Die cut a large oval from Basic White card using the Layering Oval dies. Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp a sentiment and the flowers from the Dragonfly Garden set onto the oval and then mat onto a scalloped oval die cut from Mossy Meadow card. Pop the ovals up on dimensionals on the front of the band. Punch out both the large and medium dragonflies from Dandy Garden DSP (see the video for tips on doing this). Paint the wings with Wink of Stella. Once dry, shape the wings and adhere the dragonflies direct to the oval.
Using Bumble Bee, Calypso Coral, Blackberry Bliss and Misty Moonlight inks, stamp the solid dragonfly in the corner of an envelope for each card.
Assemble the envelopes and cards into the box.
Even the back of the box looks tidy.
Thanks for stopping by.
