My second tutorial today (I’m catching up) is for a True Love Succulent card. Throughout this week I’m combining the True Love DSP (available now) with sneak peeks of the new 2021-2023 In Colors (coming 4 May). This card uses the Soft Succulent card, ink, and ribbon. We will also have Blends, Markers and DSP in each of the In Colors when they launch and I’ll have an In Color Club to help you spread the cost of getting each of the new colours.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the True Love Succulent card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own. Although you can’t order the new In Colors until 4 May you can easily switch another colour for the Soft Succulent.

This morning I used a strip of Basic White to show off the ribbon, this time I’ve gone back to Basic Black. I think this works better unless you have a very dark ribbon. What do you think?

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Soft Succulent with simple black and white.

True Love Soft Succulent card

Start with an A6 landscape card of Soft Succulent. Cut a card front layer of Basic White. Cut two card front layers of True Love DSP with patterns that work well together (I chose the dark geometric ones for this card). Holding them aligned together, cut a panel from one edge (approx 1-1/4″). Mix and match the patterns, adhering them direct to the Basic White layer (you will have another duo ready for a second card). Add a skinny strip of Basic Black card over the join in the DSP. Wrap Soft Succulent ribbon around the Basic Black strip and secure on the reverse. Adhere the layers direct to the card front. Add a bow of the same ribbon to the left side of the wrapped ribbon.

Using Soft Succulent ink, stamp a sentiment from the Oval Occasions set to the a scrap of Basic White card. Punch out within the smaller oval of the Double Oval punch. Punch the larger oval from Soft Succulent card. Adhere the ovals together direct and pop them up on the card front with dimensionals.

On the Basic White insert, stamp another sentiment from the Oval Occasions set with Soft Succulent ink. Add a border along the base by repeat stamping the small four leaf clover with the same ink.
