Today’s tutorial is for an oval pansy birthday card. This card also gives you a sneak peek of the Pansy Petals DSP and Pansy Patch stamp set, together with our new In Color, Fresh Freesia.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the oval pansy birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own. The Pansy Petals DSP is a colourful set of papers full of pansy patterns on one side and ginghams, stripes and speckles on the other. I’ve also used just a few of the 23 stamps in the Pansy Patch set. There is also a Pansy die set that will die cut out some of the pansy flowers and leaves from both the stamps and the DSP.

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Fresh Freesia, Blackberry Bliss and a hint of Pale Papaya (amongst others).

Double oval pansy petals birthday card

Start with an A6 portrait card of Fresh Freesia. Cut a square of Pansy Petals DSP into three equal strips. Adhere them evenly to a mat of Blackberry Bliss and pop up on the card front with dimensionals. Using Blackberry Bliss ink, stamp a sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set onto a scrap of Fresh Freesia. Punch out with the smooth oval of the Double Oval punch. Punch the scalloped oval from Blackberry Bliss card. Adhere the ovals together direct and pop them up on the card front with dimensionals.

On the Basic White insert, stamp another sentiment from the Pansy Patch set using Blackberry Bliss ink. Use the same ink to stamp the smaller pansy to the side of the sentiment. Cut a sliver away from a strip of the same Pansy Petals DSP used on the card front. Adhere both strips of DSP to the base of the insert.
