Today’s tutorial is for an elegant gems birthday card. The Gilded Gems are used to pick out a pattern repeat on the foiled DSP.
Each week over on my Facebook page (please pop over and Like or Follow) I choose a product pick of the week to feature. This week, it’s the Gilded Gems. I’ll have a selection of tutorials for you throughout the week that share different ideas for using these little beauties on your projects.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the elegant gems birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.
We’re also using the Gilded Gems in this month’s Craft Class (to go).
Colour Combo
The colour combo mixes Basic Gray, Metallic Silver and Metallic Gold.
Elegant gems birthday card
Start with an A6 portrait card of Basic Gray. Cut a card front layer of Simply Elegant Specialty DSP. Choose one of the designs with a repeating pattern and adhere direct to the card front. Using Basic Gray ink, stamp a sentiment from the Elegantly Said stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White card. Die cut out with a Layering Circle. Adhere direct to a scalloped circle die cut from Gold Foil using the same die set. Pop this up on the card front with dimensionals. Add Gilded Gems to repeats of the pattern that aren’t covered by the sentiment..
Here’s a short video showing how this quick card comes together.
Elegant gems birthday card insert
On the Basic White insert, stamp over the upper corners with decorative corner stamp from the Elegantly Said stamp set using Basic Gray ink. Add a skinny strip of the same pattern of DSP used on the front, down at the base.
Thanks for stopping by.
