Today’s tutorial is for an elegant gems Father’s Day card. This time the Gilded Gems are used to add a decorative border below the sentiment.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the elegant gems birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

We’re also using the Gilded Gems in this month’s Craft Class (to go).

The Gilded Gems are teamed with the Simply Elegant Specialty DSP again. Basic Gray is very elegant but can be a little sombre, so here we’ve given it a little lift with the Coastal Cabana in the background. The sentiment isn’t quite as it appears in the stamp set. Instead of another word below the “Father’s Day”, the gems are used to create a decorative border.

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana and Metallic Gold.

Elegant gems Father’s Day card

Start with an A6 portrait card of Coastal Cabana. Adhere a card front layer of Simply Elegant Specialty DSP. Using Basic Gray ink, stamp a sentiment from the Handsomely Suited stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White card, masking off the “handsome” so that it doesn’t stamp. Die cut out with a label from the Painted Labels set (this one embosses as well as cuts). Pop up on the card front with dimensionals. Add Gilded Gems below the sentiment, starting with the largest in the centre and moving outwards in both directions, towards the smallest.

Elegant gems Father’s Day card insert

On the Basic White insert, stamp another sentiment from the Handsomely Suited stamp set using Basic Gray ink. Add a skinny strip of the same pattern of DSP used on the front, down at the base.
