Tutorial for faux bow Christmas card

October 1, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for a faux bow Christmas card. My product pick of the week this week has been the Round & Square Brads. This card shows yet another way to use brads on your projects.

Bows can be quite fiddly to tie. One option for creating very dinky bows, is to use a fork. Another option is to form a bow wrapped by a brad.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the faux bow Christmas card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Start with an A6 landscape card of Real Red. Mat with a card front layer of Basic Black and then one of Peaceful Place DSP. Using Real Red ink, stamp a sentiment from the Sparkle of the Season set onto a panel of Basic White card. Mat onto Basic Black and then Real Red card and adhere direct to the card front. Mat two small squares of Peaceful Place DSP onto Basic Black card. Rotate the squares to form diamonds. Locate the centre of each square/diamond (use a ruler and Chalk Marker) and pierce with the Take Your Pick tool and Stampin’ Pierce Mat. Secure a faux bow of Real Red Sheer Ribbon there with a black round brad (from the Round & Square Brads pack). Pop the diamonds up at each end of the sentiment panel with dimensionals.

Here’s a quick tip video for creating the faux bows with brads. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel for future quick tips and quick cards.

On the Basic White insert, using Real Red ink, stamp a sentiment from the Sparkle of the Season set. Add a strip of the Peaceful Place DSP along the base to match the pattern on the card front. Adhere a skinny strip of Basic Black card above the DSP.

Thanks for stopping by.
