Today’s tutorial is for a giving gifts Christmas card. This uses the negative space from one of the Giving Gifts dies as the focal point. We also used the negative space of the snowflakes for this tag.
Unfortunately the Giving Gifts dies have sold out already! Many of our popular stamps and dies sell out at this time of year and if they are retiring at the of December, they will not be restocked. We currently have a Last Chance sale with the opportunity to save up to 50% on certain retiring products. The Sparkle of the Season set used below, is reduced by 50%, to just £8 at the time of writing but it could have sold out by the time you read this. Please don’t wait if there’s something you were uncertain about buying – some of my customers have missed their chance and now regret that they didn’t buy sooner.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the giving gifts Christmas card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.
I only noticed after photographing the project today, that my card front isn’t on straight. Now handcrafted doesn’t have to mean perfect and small mistakes will be overlooked by those who know you put a lot of time into their card. On the other hand, I can’t bear a wonky card front like this, it upsets my brain 😂 so I will make a video in the next week or so, showing one way to fix it.
Edited – Here is the video:
Colour Combo
The colour combo mixes Blackberry Bliss, Fresh Freesia and Metallic Gold.
Giving gifts Christmas card
Start with an A6 landscape card of Blackberry Bliss. Cut a card front layer of Fresh Freesia. Using Blackberry Bliss ink, stamp a sentiment from the Sparkle of the Season set, along the base of the card layer. Cut a card front panel of Blackberry Bliss and die cut the negative image, revealing Santa, using the Giving Gifts dies. Adhere the panel to the stamped card front layer. Add skinny strips of Brushed Metallic card above and below the die cut panel. Die cut a snowflake from Fresh Freesia card using the Giving Gifts dies and adhere to the right of Santa. Adhere the card front layer direct to the card (but not as wonky as mine!). Finish the centre of the snowflake with a Garden Gem.
Here’s a quick video showing how to identify and use “negative” dies. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel for future quick tips and quick cards.
