Today’s tutorial is for a symbols of fortune box. We only need a small piece of the foiled DSP to decorate the front of this box.
This was one of the Paper Dolls team make and takes last month.
In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the symbols of fortune box. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything anything you don’t already own.
I’ve chosen the sponged pattern for this box. A different pattern was used for this Catching Butterflies card and this Mother’s Day card.
Colour Combo
The colour combo mixes Blackberry Bliss, Smoky Slate and Metallic Gold.
Symbols of fortune box
Cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss card 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and cut and fold following the directions provided by the Paper Pixie. Adhere a 1-7/8″ x 3-3/8″ piece of Symbols of Fortune Specialty DSP direct to the front of the box and assemble. Using the Good Fortune dies, die cut gingko leaves from Gold Foil. Trim to fit the front of the box and pop up on the box front with mini dimensionals. Die cut a stitched label from Basic White card using the Hydrangea dies. Using Blackberry Bliss ink, stamp a sentiment from the Art Gallery set onto the label and pop the sentiment up on the front of the box, over the gold leaves, with dimensionals. Punch a hole in the top of the box and thread with Gold Fine Art Ribbon, tied in a bow to close.
The box base is 2″ square and this is the side view.
The Gold Fine Art Ribbon is shot through with flecks of gold making it a good choice for combining with the gold foiled paper.
Thanks for stopping by.
