Today’s tutorial is for a quick solid gems birthday card. This project includes a sneak peek of the By the Bay Specialty DSP that we have coming up for you in January. The Solid Faceted Gems lift the simplicity of the DSP background.

Each week over on my Facebook page (please pop over and Like or Follow) I choose a product pick of the week to feature. This week, it’s the Solid Faceted Gems. These are available now, from the Annual Catalogue and each pack includes 180 matte adhesive-backed gems in two sizes and six colours; Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Petal Pink, Melon Mambo, Pool Party and Mossy Meadow.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the quick solid gems birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own (with the exception of the By the Bay Specialty DSP which will be available from 5 January).

Colour Combo

This colour combo mixes Night of Navy, Sahara Sand and Pearl Foil.

Quick solid gems birthday card

Start with an A6 portrait card of Night of Navy. Cut a card front layer (3-7/8″ x 5-1/2″) of Sahara Sand card and adhere centrally, direct to the card front. Cut the next layer (3-3/4″ x 5-3/8″) of By the Bay Specialty DSP and adhere centrally, direct to the card front. Using Night of Navy ink, stamp a sentiment from the A Grand Kid set onto a panel (1″ x 2″) of Basic White card. Mat onto (1-1/4″ x 2-1/4″) Night of Navy card and then onto (1-3/8″ x 2-3/8″) Sahara Sand card. Pop the sentiment panel up on the card front. Finish by adding a trio of Night of Navy Solid Faceted Gems.

Quick solid gems birthday card insert

On the Basic White insert, using Night of Navy ink, stamp a sentiment from the Whiskey Business set. Add a border of the By the Bay Specialty DSP across the base.
