Tutorial for botanical thank you

July 14, 2023

Today’s tutorial is for a botanical thank you card. We’re using one set of cuts to create two card fronts and keeping our pattern continuous at the same time!

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the botanical thank you card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Colour Combo

This colour combo mixes Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Poppy Parade.

Start with an A6 landscape card of Calypso Coral. Adhere a (5-1/2″ x 3-7/8″) card front layer of Poppy Parade card. Cut two (5-1/4″ x 3-5/8″) panels of Inked Botanicals DSP. Select patterns that match but have different colours for an even better effect. With the two DSP panels lightly taped together (both the right way up), die cut out a selection of circles from the Stylish Shapes die set (see video). Leaving the pieces in position, die cut out the overlapping circle.

Adhere the Crushed Curry outer pattern direct to the card front. Adhere the Calypso Coral inner circles in place, in a puzzle piece fashion, switching the overlap piece for the Crushed Curry version. Using Poppy Parade ink, stamp a sentiment from the Circle Sayings set onto a small Stitched Shapes circle die cut from Basic White card. Pop this up on the card front with dimensionals. Finish with a trio of Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

Create a second card with the remaining die cut DSP.

Here’s a video (a little longer than usual) with tips for selecting patterns and then aligning, trimming and die cutting them. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to see my quick cards and quick tips each week.

On the Basic White insert, using Poppy Parade ink, stamp another sentiment from the Circle Sayings stamp set. Add a border of Inked Botanicals DSP across the base.
