Flower Shop card in a box

April 6, 2014

I have a guest designer for you today. This was my hubby’s Mother’s day card this year.

As always, it’s all his own work, I just give him hints and tips for how to get the effect he wants.

His card is modelled after the card in a box I made for Krista but scaled up to an A5 size, which allowed him to substitute Flower Shop for the Petite Petals.

The card in a box base was made of Basic Black and matted with two different patterns of Modern Medley DSP (126926). A variety of Flower Shop** flowers  (Wood 130939 or Clear 130942) were stamped in Basic Gray ink onto Very Vanilla card and punched out with the matching Pansy** punch (130698). These were adhered to three rows of insert bars using long Very Vanilla “stems” to give height to the back ones. Two butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri set (Wood 132058 or Clear 123759) were stamped in Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay onto Very Vanilla card, punched out with the Elegant Butterfly (127526) and Bitty Butterfly (129406) and adhered at the top of slivers of Window Sheet (114323) before adhering to the insert bars. Plain matching Very Vanilla shapes were added to the backs of all the flowers and butterflies to hide the supports. The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments  (Wood 130042 or Clear 120024) was stamped in Melon Mambo ink onto Very Vanilla card, punched out with the Word Window (119857) and adhered to a Modern Label (119849) punched from Basic Black before popping up on dimensionals on the card box front.

The card folds flat and fits inside a C5 envelope.

I love how he kept it monochromatic except for the little pops of colour for the butterflies and sentiment. I’m not sure how he’s going to top this one Laughing
