Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator

A flat-bottomed petal cone box

November 4, 2011

petal cone die box - close up

This was my swap when I got together with fellow demos last weekend for our Display Book meeting.

It uses the new Petal Cone Die but has a flat bottom to allow it to stand rather than hang. I was really pleased with how easy this was to put together and how good the finished product looks – I can see me making quite a few of these as stocking stuffers!

I’m posting the pix and the recipe today but if you stop by tomorrow I’ll share a quick tutorial on how to turn the cone into this box. (Sorry this pic is a little wonky – the box is straight – honest!).

Recipe
Stamp set: Tags Til Christmas (W120847 or C121169)
Cardstock: Old Olive (106576), Real Red (106578), Very Vanilla (106550)
Ink: Old Olive (102277)
DSP: Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty (124004)
Punches: 5-Petal Flower (119880), Extra-Large Tag (119866), Large Tag (119876)
Satin Ribbon: Real Red (117286)
Bigz L Die: Petal Cone (121810)
Embossing Folder: Perfect Polka Dots (117335)
Other: Basics Glimmer Brads (121003)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Mat Pack (105826), Paper-Piercing Tool (116631), Crop-a-dile (108362)

The box was die cut from Old Olive using the Petal Cone and the box lids were folded together and run through the Big Shot again with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. DSP was added to two opposite sides of the box and then it was assembled. Real Red Satin Ribbon was adhered to the base of the box and wrapped over the sides that had no DSP, before adding the DSP to trap the ribbon in place. 5-Petal Flowers were punched from Old Olive and Real Red card. They were folded along each petal for shaping, then secured with a Gold Glimmer Brad and popped up on a dimensional on the front of the box. The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive ink onto Very Vanilla card and punched with the Large Tag. This was matted onto an Extra-Large Tag punched from Old Olive card, punched with the Crop-a-dile and threaded onto the ribbon, before filling the box with chocs and tying it closed with a bow.

Please drop by tomorrow for the tutorial.

Have a great weekend.
