Gift bow die – not just for card and paper

Another Gift Bow project for you today – the weekly deal reduced price of £21.71 for this die is only valid until tomorrow night and then it reverts back to its full price of £28.95 (and we get a new set of Weekly Deals).

Framelits, thinlits and embosslits, fantastic as they are, are only recommended  for cutting paper and card. Bigz and Originals dies on the other hand, are deep bladed dies and can cut a much greater variety of materials including chipboard, fabric, foam, magnet, leather and metallic foil.

Today I’ve used the Bigz Gift Bow die with some tie-dye felt (non-SU!) to transform a very basic, black stretchy hair band (non-SU!) into my own custom made, fancy hair band. I don’t do much sewing but even I could manage this 🙂

The Gift Bow die was used to cut the pieces from the felt and then a few stitches were used to hold all the outer bow and the fish tail pieces in place (see the free tutorial here for an explanation of the pieces). With the hair band in place too, the centre wrap would have been a bit stretched and so I simply cut a slightly larger rectangle from the felt and sewed it in place with the hairband between it and the bow.

I struggled a bit to get this selfie, 😉 but here goes:
