I’m back with the Darling Donkeys again today! This time my tutorial is for a cute shimmer ribbon framed donkey birthday card. As with the donkey hello card earlier in the week, it combines the Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon, with a sneak peek of one of our upcoming Sale-a-bration freebies; the Darling Donkeys stamp set.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the shimmer ribbon framed donkey birthday card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

The Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon is a densely woven ribbon with structure. It holds straight well over a reasonably long length. If you use a lightweight weave, or use a larger panel, the ribbon may sag. If so, then you may need to use a little “dry” glue (eg. mini glue dots or tear and tape) to hold the ribbon straight.

Colour Combo

The colour combo mixes Petal Pink, Gray Granite, Whisper White and a (teeny) spot of Mint Macaron.

Shimmer ribbon framed donkey birthday card tutorial

Start with an A6 portrait card of Petal Pink. Mat with Peony Garden DSP. Using Gray Granite ink, stamp the donkey with a flower from the Darling Donkeys set, onto a large panel of Whisper White card (leaving room for the ribbon frame). Colour with Blends. Using Gray Granite ink again, stamp a sentiment from the set just a little way above the donkey ears. Wrap all four sides of the panel evenly with Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon. Mat onto Gray Granite card. (Tip – as the ribbon is quite thick, put a little dot of glue in all four corners as you mat, so that the card does not “lift”). Pop the panel up on the card front with dimensionals.

On the Whisper White insert, using Gray Granite ink, stamp the jumping donkey from the Darling Donkeys set. Add a sentiment and sparkles, as if he’s shouting them.
