Tutorial for purple puffin card

May 6, 2021

Today’s tutorial is for a small square purple puffin card. This is another simple card, suitable for a beginner crafter as it doesn’t need too many supplies.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the small square purple puffin card. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Small square purple puffin card tutorial

I’ve been using black for my puffins so far but it’s often fun to turn expected colours on their head and opt for something totally unreal. I decided to go for a purple puffin but it could just as easily have been pink or green. Just take a look at what you have in your stash.

Colour Combo

Monochromatic colour combo using Gorgeous Grape

The colour combo is mainly monochromatic using Gorgeous Grape. The DSP is actually Highland Heather (but we’ll not split hairs).

Start with a small square card of Gorgeous Grape. Cut a card front layer of Hand-penned DSP. Wrap Gorgeous Grape Sheer ribbon around the upper third and lower quarter of the layer, securing on the reverse before adhering the layer direct to the card front. Punch two labels from Basic White card and one from Gorgeous Grape card using the Label Me Lovely punch. Reinsert one of the white labels in the punch to make it shorter. Using Gorgeous Grape ink, stamp the sentiment from the Party Puffins set onto the shorter white label and one of the puffins onto the regular size one. Snip the Gorgeous Grape label in half and mat behind the stamped puffin. Pop the labels up on the card front with dimensionals.

Here’s a video showing how to create the punched pieces. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to make sure you see all future quick tips.

On the Basic White insert, stamp another sentiment and the gift fish from the Party Puffins set using Gorgeous Grape ink.

If you missed my online workshop last night I also made these two cards with the Party Puffins set. Please pop over and join my Facebook Group for the replay.

Thanks for stopping by.
