Tutorial for Enjoy the Journey envelope

March 17, 2023

Today’s tutorial is for an Enjoy the Journey envelope. This is sized to hold the 4″ x 4″ quick Enjoy the Journey card. It is just one way to create a small square envelope and requires a non-directional pattern of DSP.

In the tutorial below, I take you step by step through creating the Enjoy the Journey envelope. I also have a supply list for purchasing anything you don’t already own.

Start with a 6-3/4″ x 6-3/4″ square of Enjoy the Journey DSP. (See video below for step by step demonstration). Rotate the square to a diamond configuration. Place your 4″ x 4″ square card directly in the centre of the diamond. Fold the bottom point of the diamond up over the base of the card, keeping the point central and the bottom fold parallel. Fold the top point down over the top of the card. Use a bone folder to emboss the folds at the sides of the card. Fold the sides over the card.

Unfold and remove the card. Refold all the folds and burnish with a bone folder. Unfold and snip away all the tiny triangles on each midway point on the envelope. Check all the folds and orient the envelope for the tidiest set of folding. Adhere the sides over the base, keeping the adhesive close to the edges.

Card and envelope

Using the Something Fancy dies, die cut an address label from Basic White card. Adhere direct to the front of the envelope with a strong adhesive. Tip – if packaging the envelope and card together, to gift or sell, then Tear & Tape can be added to the closure flap. All the user then needs to do is peel off the backing paper to adhere closed.

This short video shows how I fold the envelope together for best fit. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel to see my quick cards and quick tips each week.

The card fits easily with just a little extra space.
